APPLY FOR AN INTERNSHIP

Internships aren’t just a great way to boost a resume! They are full of experiences and skills that will be critical in professional life after graduation. You get the chance to test out what it’s like to work in an office, handle customers or interact with coworkers, and form relationships that will provide future job references or the foot in the door to a particular company or field. Think about your career goals, then research jobs in that field and note the ones that interest you. Businesses of all sizes partner with universities to create a pipeline for students, so work with your school’s career center to find internship openings in whatever interests you. Internships are typically available during the school year, so you can work one into your class schedule for credits. Too many required courses on your plate? Look into a summer internship! Some internships even happen online, if that works better for your schedule. Even though many students do an internship in their junior and senior year to strive toward a full-time job offer, you can start looking as early as you like. You might even find one that’s paid!
