Hardened cons, amateur spies, and parents of small children know the critical importance of carrying at least one change of clothing. It’s embarrassing the number of times I’ve been caught out without a wig or fedora to hide underneath. Since I prefer to do my surveillance and crafting from bars, it’s essential to have an accessory that can play double agent, such as a quick mustache/sunglasses disguise that doubles as a sassy glass garnish.

Making this craft item is about as easy as ordering a round of drinks. Enlarge the template and cut it out. Color in the design, or print on fancy papers if you want to outfit your whole crew. Tape a tall straw to the back of your disguise, and grab another drink—it’s time to lie low.

HOW TO

1. Copy the templates from the book. Experiment with sizes a bit; sometimes a teeny-tiny mustache is more fun than a great big one. I used a heavy printing paper, but fancy scrapbook paper would really make these disguises pop.

2. Color, glitter, or embellish the disguise, if you like. It makes a fun party craft, and is a great way for folks to figure out whose drink is whose.

3. Tape the disguise to a drinking straw and work on your cover story——you’re now in hiding!
