What You’ll Need: clear base and top coat; red nail polish; light pink nail polish; white, yellow, and brown acrylic paint; gold and pink dots or decals; fine-tipped brush
1. Apply a clear base coat.
2. On the index and ring fingernails and the thumbnails apply two coats of red polish. On the middle and pinky nails, apply two coats of light pink polish.
3. On the index fingernail, using a fine-tipped brush and white paint, draw a half moon at the bed of the nail and fill it in.
4. Using yellow paint, paint a horizontal oval for the nose (slightly larger than Hello Kitty’s nose). Then, using brown paint, add two vertical ovals for the eyes (slightly larger than Hello Kitty’s eyes) and add a mouth, centered directly under the nose.
5. Using a fine-tipped brush and white paint, draw four round flower petals on the left side of My Melody’s head. Using yellow paint, draw a dot in the center of the petals.
6. Doing one nail at a time, apply a top coat on each fingernail except the index fingernail where My Melody’s face is and, using a fine-tipped brush, place gold dots on the red nails and pink dots on the pink nails. Be sure to apply the dots right after you apply the top coat to each nail so they stick. To ensure the dots adhere well, dip the brush into a small amount of the top coat and pick up the dots with the brush. Use a little more top coat if the dots are not sticking.
7. Apply a clear top coat to all nails.
