Thanks for picking up My Alcoholic Plush Toy.
It’s come to my attention that blurbs are completely ineffective for conveying what a book is actually about, and I think the trashcan full of dead tree beneath my desk is getting tired of my shit.
So, here’s what I’ve decided to do.
I’m going to tell you what this book is about, straight up.
My Alcoholic Plush Toy is a comedy and an intrusion fantasy. It’s the type of story where the fantastical speeds up to the protagonist’s house and leaves a giant skid mark on the lawn. In this metaphor, the lawn is the protagonist’s budding romantic and social life, which feature very heavily in the novel. Due to this, the story has a contemporary, new-adult flavor to it.
The story is told using a stream-of-consciousness style from the perspective of its protagonist, Rachel Bennett. Rachel is smart, cynical, and sleep-deprived as she attempts to navigate the increasingly bizarre happenings around her while in a foreign country. Nothing is what it seems, and alcohol casts a blur over everything.
Potential readers should be aware that this story contains cursing.
If you like unlikely heroes, or if fantasy/romance tropes make you want to vomit in your mouth a little, this is probably the book for you.
Now, assuming you haven’t said ‘nope’ to this whole ordeal, happy reading!
