Too many Alphas. Too much Alpha. Sunstruck

With Alpha. Eye-sick,

Head-sick, sick sick sick Ο

Sick of Alpha. You kicked school it

Collapsed in Alphas. You shook

The lightning conductor between your teeth –

All the sky-signs registered Alpha.

You burrowed for a way back out of it all.

Down into a cellar. There in the dark

Your eyes tight shut

You turned your mother inside out

Like ripping a feather-pillow

And came up covered with Alphas.

You stamped and stamped

Like Rumpelstiltskin

On your Daddy’s coffin and the whole band

Started up Alpha. The whole stadium

Clapped Alpha, roared Alpha. You sniped at

Ping-pong balls boy-friend after boy-friend

Jogging on pin-jet fountains and bull’s-eyed

A straight row of Alphas. Won a huge

Plastic Alpha with blond hanks. You smashed her

With a kitchen stool and out fell

Tick-tock Alpha. Bloodprints

Of your escaping heel

Signed the street-scene snowscape Alpha.

                                                                            Anyhow,

Anywhere to lose

The Furies of Alpha you crawled under

Or hurdled every letter in the Alphabet

And hurling yourself beyond Omega

                                                                  fell

Into a glittering Universe of Alpha.
