I have not written Hester with a specific diagnosis in mind, nor am I certain that she would have one if she lived today. She refers to herself as ‘eccentric’ and other people as ‘normal’. This is purely my interpretation of how a woman in 1832 that was different from the norm would view herself and not how I view anyone who acts or think differently.
Oh, and all research shows that you should not give your parrot sugar any more, although I am certain that they would see no problem in it in 1832.
