Thor and I took Yurgi’s plane to Bentonville.
I slept most of the way.
When I opened my eyes, somewhere over Georgia, Thor smiled at me.
“How are you feeling?” he asked.
I stretched my arms and yawned. “Better.”
“Jack called while you were sleeping.”
“Oh?”
“I told him I was taking you to Arkansas to meet my parents. He seemed…pleased.”
“Come sit next to me.”
When he was beside me, I rested my head on his shoulder. “Any other calls?”
“Mr. Brown.”
“What did you tell him?”
Consuela, who’d been sleeping in her own seat, lifted her head and stared at Thor.
“I told him that Dimitriou was shot, and the drive was destroyed.”
“How disappointed was he?”
“Very.” He raked his fingers through his hair. “What are you going to do with the drive?”
“It’s too much power. Especially with the world so unstable.”
“You didn’t answer my question.”
I hadn’t decided. Not until that moment. I reached for his hand and smiled up at him. “Do your parents have a backyard?”
