GIFT BOWS
GIFT BOWS This is a quick way to use up some T-shirts to great effect!
The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.
— Ralph Waldo Emerson —
YOU’LL NEED:
T-shirt
Glue gun
Needle and thread (hand stitching optional)
Felt (optional)
Prep
1. Square up your fabric and cut (using rotary cutter, ruler, and cutting mat) 3˝-wide strips. You will have approximately 4 large loops, and this will make 4 gift bows.
2. Take 1 loop and cut to make a long strip.
3. Fold the strip in half lengthwise, and make 1˝ cuts along the length of the fabric about ½˝ apart—you’re cutting through the folded edge and leaving about ½˝ uncut along the raw edges. (Pssst! I use scissors here, and generally don’t measure.)
4. Hot glue along the edge and roll as you go, continuing to add glue.
5. When you’re finished you should have a pouf.
6. Finish it off by covering the bottom with felt and either gluing or hand sewing to secure it.
tip>
I add a pin to the back; that way the gift topper can easily be repurposed as a brooch or a flower embellishment for a headband or hat. It’s an added gift!
