POM-POMS

POM-POMS These are just adorable and easy to make—no sewing! And you can find many uses for them. Pom-poms are great as decor. Make a bunch of mini-poms, and with the help of a hot glue gun, create a fun wreath. String them as garland. Or double the length of the smaller strip and your pom can be used to tie gift bags or packages for anyone.

YOU’LL NEED

T-shirt yarn

2 empty cardboard toilet paper rolls

1. Using Method 1: Making Yarn, cut 10–15 strips 1˝ wide.

2. Cut a 4˝ piece for tying the pom-pom together.

3. Hold 2 empty toilet paper rolls together sideways and wrap the T-shirt yarn around the outside. When you get to the end of a T-shirt strip, hold it in place with your thumb and start a new strip. Make sure the new strip overlaps the end of the old one. Repeat with all strips.

4. Take the 4˝ piece of T-shirt yarn and slide it between the toilet paper rolls. Tie a tight knot around the wound T-shirt yarn.

5. With sharp scissors, carefully cut each loop along each side of the tissue roll. Fluff up the pom-pom.

Tip to Save the Planet

Recycle your cardboard! It uses less energy, water, and oil to recycle cardboard than it does to create new cardboard. Recycling and reusing saves space in landfills. And it’s better for the environment because less chemical waste and methane gas are produced.
