DOLPHINS

BOTTLE-NOSED DOLPHIN

Tursiops truncatus

This is the most commonly encountered dolphin in the region and pods of them can be found in many areas, such as at Gibraltar, Sicily and around the Greek islands. It has a nice, friendly face with a long snout and high forehead, and grows up to 4m (13ft) long. This species enjoys riding the bow wave of fast boats, and this is probably the best way that tourists will enjoy it in the Mediterranean.
