Ruins are all that remain of the gorgeous Doric-style temple built in Isis’s honor by the people of Delos so that fishermen, seafarers, and locals could pray to her for safe passage, protection, good health, and fortune. The temple is flanked by a craggy outcropping and perched stalwartly on a hill that overlooks the harbor of Delos, which is said to be the birthplace of the sun god Apollo and his twin sister, Artemis.
If you have been feeling lost, buffeted by the winds of uncertainty, and you long for a feeling of safe harbor and security, head to Delos and the Temple of Isis. Since there are no overnight accommodations for tourists on Delos, book a day trip on one of the many boats leaving the Mykonos Port.
