AFTERWORD
Kevin J. Kennedy
After the success of Collected Christmas Horror Shorts, I kept getting asked by both readers and authors if I planned on doing another antho. In truth I had no idea. I had thought about doing another Christmas one, a year down the line, but that was about it. The question kept popping up though. After a bit of back and forth with it, I asked a few authors what they thought about doing an Easter antho and this book was born.
I had looked at the feedback from the last book and although there were very few negatives, one that came up a few times, was that some of the stories could have been longer, so the minimum word count was raised. To give the authors some room to work, the max word count went up too, which is why this book is much bigger than the last one. That’s why it’s so important to leave reviews, both authors and publishers do listen. I hope you enjoyed the book. I’m obviously a little biased. I get to read all the stories and put the ones I like the most into the book.
I never set out to publish anthologies and I’m not sure if I will continue. Like everything in life there are good points and bad points. For every great story you accept you have to reject another for one reason or other and I don’t enjoy that part in the slightest. I don’t imagine many people do. While I write this, I’m also sitting here with no idea how well the book will do. I know I like it and that was pretty much the formula for the last book so I hope I have got it right again. It sometimes feels like a lot of pressure knowing that all the authors involved have put their faith in you and taken the time to write a story for your book. I suppose if I didn’t worry about it I couldn’t really care all that much.
There are a lot of anthologies coming out these days so I’m truly thankful you have given ours a try. The authors in the book are all personal favourites of mine and I can only hope you enjoyed their stories as much as I did. Almost every author in the book has provided contact details so if you loved their story why not drop them a message and tell them? I’m sure it would make their day. I’d love to hear your thoughts too so feel free to say hi.
