When I was in the tight grip of alcohol, I would never even have thought about writing a book, but here it is. All that newfound energy and motivation that returned after I quit drove me to achieve something I didn’t think was possible. My goal for this book is to continue to spread the word that an alcohol-free life really is the pathway to achieving what you want in life and becoming the best version of yourself.
I could never have completed this project without the support of my wife Michelle. She encouraged me from day one and has held my hand through the highs and lows, both on the journey to alcohol freedom and the challenges that came up when writing and publishing this book. She has always been kind, non-judgmental and ensured that I stayed on the right path. Without her, I would never be where I am today. Michelle, this book is dedicated to you.
Writing this book felt similar to quitting drinking at times. There were some tough challenges and points when I wondered if I would ever get to where I wanted to be. But I stuck with it, I put the work in and kept going because I knew it was what I wanted and I wasn’t going to give up.
To Robyn Chapple, my daughter. You are a shining light in my life who never ceases to amaze me. You make me smile every day and I am very proud to call myself your dad. Who needs alcohol with a daughter like you.
To Annie Grace, if it wasn’t for you I would still be drinking wine every day and this book would never exist, your work changed my life. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the help, advice and opportunities you have given me. You are the leader of a global revolution that I am proud to be part of. You really are an inspiration and I will never forget everything you have done for me.
To Scott Pinyard, what you don’t know about alcohol coaching isn’t worth knowing. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, being patient with me and helping me to become a better person. You have helped change the lives of so many people and I am honoured to be able to call you my mentor.
To Ginny Carter, you helped me create this book and worked tirelessly with me to make my dream a reality. I couldn’t have done this without you, thank you.
To Heather Truman and Katya Lamb. Thank you for all the time and effort you put into helping run the Be Sober Facebook Group. You give up your free time to help make it one of the most incredible alcohol-free communities on the internet and I can’t thank you enough for all you do.
Finally, to all the members of the various sober groups I work in. You are all inspirational and I feel so privileged that I am able to be part of your personal journeys to alcohol freedom. You are all sober rebels!
