Mimosa

[ACACIA]

The mimosa stands for sensitivity.

The feathery, furry mimosa is known for its exquisite touch. It will actually withdraw its leaves if disturbed. Its blooms are fuzzy yellow balls, yet its branches are thorny.

In India, the mimosa is said to have grown out of a falcon’s claw. Demons wounded the bird as it tried to steal the elixir of the gods. Where its claw fell to earth, up sprang the mimosa, which can both soothe and prick.

In Arabia, a sprig of mimosa hung above the bed was said to lengthen love and ward off spells of jealousy.
