I was closing up the library when I felt something. It was like the night that Lou and Dante were bitten and I couldn't help but send up a short prayer, please. No more.

But like my mother always told me, I was a conduit for the magic, I could not command it.

Then I felt it pull. That was something I had never felt before in my life. I looked around but there was no one in the parking lot. My car was the only one in the parking lot.

Then I felt the pull even sharper. It was getting painful now, tugging me towards the center of town, where there were more shops, parking lots, and the movie theater.

The only time I felt like this was when Lou and Eli were under attack in the woods, but it wasn't exactly like that. That time had been more of a pleading question, present in my head.

This time it felt like there was a harpoon buried in my chest pulling me inexorably towards where it wanted me to go.

I knew if I fought it, it would be worse.

I tucked my keys into my pocket and I let the magic take me where it needed me to go.
