Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream

Everyone loves vanilla. But just in case you come across someone who doesn’t, I’ve given you a few options that will help you make different flavors with ease.

1 ½ cups egg substitute

1 cup sugar

1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk

2 cups heavy whipping cream

5 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

½ gallon milk

Place the egg substitute and sugar in the bowl of an electric mixer. Mix on high speed for 3 minutes. Add the condensed milk, whipping cream, salt, and vanilla. Continue to mix at medium speed for 3 minutes. Pour the mixture into your ice cream freezer’s container and add the milk to the fill line. Freeze according to manufacturer’s directions.

Makes 12 servings.

Variations: Stir the following ingredients into the vanilla ice cream before you place it in the ice cream freezer.

Peach or strawberry: add 1 quart of fruit sweetened with 1 cup of sugar.

Peppermint: Crush 8 ounces of peppermint candy. Add ½ teaspoon peppermint extract and 3 drops of red food coloring.
