Double Chocolate Pound Cake
Moist and good and chocolaty! Need I say more?
1 cup butter
2 cups sugar
4 large eggs
cup chocolate syrup
2 ½ cups sifted all-purpose flour
¼ teaspoon salt
1 cup buttermilk
½ teaspoon baking soda
7 ounces milk chocolate bars
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour one 10-inch tube cake pan. In a large bowl cream the butter and sugar. Add the eggs one at a time, beating after each addition. Add the chocolate syrup, flour, and salt. In a small bowl combine the buttermilk and baking soda and add to the flour mixture. In a double boiler melt the chocolate bars. Add the melted chocolate and vanilla to the batter. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 1 hour and 10 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the pan comes out clean.
Cool for 10 minutes before turning out onto a cake plate.
Makes 16 servings.
