Moist and good and chocolaty! Need I say more?

1 cup butter

2 cups sugar

4 large eggs

4 cup chocolate syrup

2 ½ cups sifted all-purpose flour

¼ teaspoon salt

1 cup buttermilk

½ teaspoon baking soda

7 ounces milk chocolate bars

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour one 10-inch tube cake pan. In a large bowl cream the butter and sugar. Add the eggs one at a time, beating after each addition. Add the chocolate syrup, flour, and salt. In a small bowl combine the buttermilk and baking soda and add to the flour mixture. In a double boiler melt the chocolate bars. Add the melted chocolate and vanilla to the batter. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 1 hour and 10 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the pan comes out clean.

Cool for 10 minutes before turning out onto a cake plate.
