Other corals found in southern Michigan may be less distinctive and harder to identify. Coral species, whether solitary or colonial, often have vague branching shapes, gauze-like textures and patterns, and discs with radiating coloration. If you want to identify your other finds, see page 95 for a list of additional resources. You will likely pick up some strange fossils that you won’t be able to identify with books alone. For these, contacting a local club or museum to talk with a professional may be your best chance to figure out just what you’ve found.
