Lilla Rogers is the founder of Lilla Rogers Studio, a visionary art agency that represents artists from around the world. An accomplished illustrator and painter herself, she has been in the business for 30 years. The studio’s client list includes Crate & Barrel, Pier One, Land of Nod, Chronicle, the New York Times, Moda, Woodmanstern, Hello Lucky, Paperchase, and hundreds more. Lilla supports the artists she represents through mentoring and teaching classes and workshops to keep their creative energy fresh and stimulated.
The studio represents some of the most sought-after artists worldwide and has licensed their artwork on a huge variety of products, such as bathing suits, teacups, scrubs, bathmats, puzzles, piggybanks, clocks, paper lanterns, children’s books, wall décor, and much more.
Lilla’s love for art inspired her to pursue a degree in fine art in San Francisco, a second degree in illustration, and launch a fruitful illustration career in New York City in the ’80s. But it was the entrepreneurial gene she inherited from her parents that led her into the agency business. Lilla has the extraordinary ability to recognize new artistic trends as well as technology developments that allow illustration to morph and take on a new life within the media revolution.
Today, Lilla continues to act on her entrepreneurial urges through her latest studio projects, including launching a floral-inspired jewelry, scrapbooking, and embellishment collection called Ruby Violet, which is sold globally. Lilla offers an online course with the highly-regarded Beth Nicholls that supplements this book with assignments and inspiration for each of ten hot markets, called Making Art That Sells.
Lilla is able to follow her passions while staying open to opportunities. “Passion is the secret to the creative life,” she says. “Also, having a great staff.”
Bottom line? Lilla says, “I just like to make things.”
