This book was supposed to be the third novella in the Demons Among Us series. It had other plans. The concept started as two lines of dialogue that popped into my head over a year ago right in the middle of drafting The Siren’s Song.
“Are you a vampire?”
“No. Vampires aren’t real. I’m a blood demon.”
Needless to say, the story avalanched from there. As I fleshed out the characters and the world, I quickly realized I couldn’t do Marco and Anna justice in a novella, and I couldn’t do their world justice in a single book. So, here we are, the end of Bonded in Blood Book One, and I couldn’t be happier that Her Dark Salvation sent me tumbling down this mountain.
Once again, it took a village, and there were several individuals whose support gave me the courage I needed to take the plunge. Zoey Ellis, my critique partner and dear friend, I’m so grateful we found each other. No matter what happens, this is our year, and I can’t wait to embark on the next chapter of our stories together. Nico Rosso, your insights into craft and Romance are invaluable. Without you, this book would be a shadow of itself. Thank you for getting real with me and challenging me at every turn. Margaret Curelas, my intrepid copyeditor, faced with the unenviable task of beating my grammar into submission, thank you for answering my never-ending stream of questions about the cursed language that is English.
To the (very) small group of readers who have been with me since The Art Collector, thank you for taking a chance on a nobody indie author. I can’t put into words how grateful I am for you. If for no other reason, I will keep writing for you.
And last, but by no means least, Rhonda Parrish. You are my rock. I couldn’t do this writing thing without you. Thank you for guiding me on this wild ride, for keeping me grounded in what’s important, and for always being there when I’m freaking out. I couldn’t have asked for a better mentor, and I’m lucky to have you in my corner.
