Part 4
Aftermath
Tread them not in vengeance’s shoes
Where no man wins and all men lose,
Yet tie them not in lawyers’ words
Where victims’ woes are seldom heard.
Listen to their pain, their tears,
Their happy memories, largest fears,
Hear the facts, shed the lies,
Piecing together events in time.
Then let the law find honour’s feet
To make decisions in good stead.
As the gavel glides slowly down,
Let your eyes wander round and round:
See the lives so deeply bruised,
Forever changed by tragic news.
Give them justice true to the heart
That anger ends and grief may start.
