Ansley avoided talking to her friends and worked from home over the next two days. She was not in the right mindset to deal with people. She couldn’t bring herself to tell Lanae or Simeon about the latest information she’d discovered about Davis…Montgomery or whoever he was.

She was a complete wreck as she dressed for her doctor’s appointment. She had the first appointment of the day, and she was ready to get it over with. Ansley looked at herself in the mirror and shook her head as she saw the uncoordinated buttons on her white blouse and mismatched navy and black shoes she wore. She exhaled and grabbed her purse from the dresser to head out.

An hour and a half later, she sat in a chair while the phlebotomist drew her blood. She’d already completed a pap smear and provided the doctor with a urine sample. It would be a couple of days before she would know her fate.

Ansley wanted to scream.

Although the doctor assured her that she wasn’t currently exhibiting any signs of a STD, which was relief, but Ansley still wanted to get those test results so she would know for sure that she was negative. Leaving the doctor’s office, Ansley decided that she would not worry. She had prayed about it and believed she would be fine.

Wherever Davis is hiding, he had better stay there…
