Day dreaming is good for your mind. You can even do this while faced with stressful circumstances.
When faced with screaming kids in a car, or the water pipes that busted, and flooded your home. Imagine you are somewhere else.
Maybe you are on a game show, and you have to see how long you can cope without losing control. You could be on a deserted island, having to cross extreme rapids to reach a life boat.
Allow your mind to explore, and it will help you to stay calm. Once you are calm, you can now think of a solution!
