Chapter 19

Well, I’ve done it now.  I wasn’t lying to her when she asked about me wearing suits to work everyday this week.  I was in court testifying against Jeff in the attempted murder case.  His lawyer tried to run my name through the mud because Lilly and I were a bit of an item these days.  The atmosphere in the court room had gotten heated when he brought up the fact that I was involved with Lilly.  I brought up the anal rape using a wooden device that left her with splinters in her ass, it had almost killed her.  All Jeff could do was smile at the information that I had provided.  That sick fuck.

After the outburst in court the judge had pulled me aside and asked how I had learned about the rape.  I had to explain to him that she’d almost died when we took her to Houston a few weeks back to donate her car.  He was the one that realized how much I really cared about her, he questioned our relationship and I told him that it was a bit difficult to say.  She was too traumatized to commit to a sexual relationship, but she was at least letting me take care of her basic needs.  He then suggested that if something happened to me what would happen to her.  It got me thinking I didn’t want her getting involved with another Jeff just because he came along and could help her in the moment, and then abuse her.  I have to admit that I want her to myself, but she’s got to be able to make the decision that she wants me too.

He really got me thinking, so I contacted my families lawyers and set it up that she got a monthly stipend to take care of her no matter what.  Absolutely no strings attached.  They had tried to advise me against it, but when they found out that she was abused before we met, and she had a kid that was about the same age as I was when my father killed my mother and tried to kill me they understood.  I’ve set Luke up for life.  By the time he graduates high school he’ll be a millionaire.  I don’t want her to have to worry about where he goes to college, or if he even has the opportunity.  I had the opportunity, but passed on it because I wanted to help the women and kids out there that were abused, or in abusive relationships.

I see the look on her face when she reads my full name.  It clicks who I am and that I’m worth a hell of a lot.  She’s worth a few thousand out of my account every month if it means she can live comfortably and work at her stay at home job to take care of Luke without any worry.  When we get to the will she shoots me a questioning look wondering why I had my will rewritten giving her the cars and the house.  I want her taken care of even if I’m not in the picture.  I want her knowing that she and Luke are safe no matter what.

Everyone has left the room and now we have to head out.  I give her a loving hug before I whisper in her ear, “Go to the bathroom and check your stuff out it may be a while before we get to go again.”  She looks at me confused.  All I do is wink at her.  Thankfully, she takes my advice about going to the bathroom, I don’t want her to get embarrassed if the bag leaks before we get where we’re going next.

She doesn’t know it, but while she’s been here with me I’ve had Kathy and Chris running a secret mission.  Kathy is at the house with Chris packing a bag for Lilly I’ve written down everything that she needs for our little trip.  Then they get the rental car, the luggage that I’ve packed and that Kathy has packed for her sister, and then delivering it all to the courthouse.  Then he’s taking my truck back to the house.  Something tells me that Jeff isn’t going to give up until she’s dead.  Knowing what I know about the rape, he’s got to have a couple of people fighting his battles for him while he’s behind bars.

When she comes out of the restroom I’m ready to go.  She doesn’t realize that it’s been over six weeks since her surgery, and I’m going to make sure she knows how much I care for her.  We’re driving all day to Las Vegas.  Then I’m locking us into the room for the rest of the night and the whole day.  We might head out to a fancy restaurant and have a meal, but I just want time alone to relax and show her my love.

As if on cue, Chris pulls up to the courthouse in the ride that I’ve rented.  It’s a beautiful navy blue Rolls Royce.  I open the door for Lilly and allow her to get comfortable before closing the door.  I head around to the drivers side and give Chris my truck keys and a hug for keeping this secret of mine.

We start to drive and Lilly is still a bit awestruck.  I explain to her that we are going to have some alone time.  We’ll be back by Monday evening.  Until then Kathy and Chris are watching Luke.  She inquires as to where we are going and I don’t want to spoil the surprise so I make her guess.  After an hour of her guessing she gives up and finally changes the topic.  She has realized that the trip is taking us west and that we will be on the road for another few hours.  She asks, “Why are you paying me to stay with you?  Do you think that I’m going to leave you or try to drag your family name through the mud?”

“Hell no Lillybear.  I want you not to feel like you have to support yourself, you do a great job taking care of Luke and I don’t want you to ever give up on being that stay at home mom who also works from home.  I know that in business sometimes you are a hot commodity and other times not.”  I explain to her my reasoning for giving her a monthly stipend.

I turn the car off the road and into a little restaurant that I know of, it’s the best place to get a good bite to eat, and no one in this little rinky dink town knows me.  I park and then walk around the car and open her door.  We eat dinner and then head back on the road.  When we get to Las Vegas it’s late.  I check us in and get the key to the penthouse.
