9.7. Publishing to the Wiki from Other Sources

Up until this point I have mainly talked about creating and maintaining content on a wiki, only touching on the idea of the wiki as a destination for imported content during the initial population phase. However wikis can be used, and particularly in the technical documentation arena, are used as a publishing destination. This sort of workflow involves creating and maintaining your content elsewhere, usually in a dedicated authoring tool such as Microsoft Word, Adobe FrameMaker, an XML editor, or a help authoring tool, and then periodically publishing to a wiki. There are several tools available that allow you to set up a wiki as a distinct target format in a regular publishing process.
