10.3. A Final Stroll Around the Garden

I hope that the previous pages will prove to be a guide that helps you implement your wiki project. If I have one central theme that I’d like you to come away with, it’s that wiki implementation is not about the technology, it’s as much an exercise in sociology as anything else.

Managing change and learning to apply new behavior patterns is as crucial, if not more so, than selecting which wiki platform you will use. While changes in social computing, such as blogs and social network sites, have shown that it is OK to comment on someone else’s work, thoughts, and ideas; the concept of changing the written word can still be daunting for some people.

The key is that while the word WIKI is in the title of this book and is the technology we’ve been discussing, what we are really talking about is collaboration.

If you have knowledge, then share it. The community will benefit.
