1 [I swear] by the mountain, 2 and by the written book, 3 in an open raqq, [1] 4 and by the inhabited house, 5 and by the raised ceiling, 6 and by the thrown sea, 7 surely the torment of your lord is imminent. 8 There is not any who can avert it. 9 A day the heavens will be troubled with troubling 10 and the mountains will walk, walking. 11 So woe on that day to the deniers. 12 Those who are engaged in sporting. 13 A day they will be called to the fire of hell, calling, 14 "This is the fire which you were denying it. 15 Is this a sorcery, or do you not see? 16 Roast in it; so be patient, or do not be patient. It will be the same for you, for surely you are only rewarded for what you were doing."
In the gardens the believers praise Allah for food, drink, virgins, and beautiful boys.
17 Surely the fearer in gardens and bliss, 18 rejoicing in what their lord has given them, and their lord guards them from the torment of hell. 19 "Eat and drink blessedly because of what you were doing." 20 Reclining on beds arranged in rows, and we married them to hūr-eyed. 21 And those who believed and their offspring followed them in the faith. We associated their offspring with them, and we did not deprive anything from them of their work. Every man is bound by what he has earned. 22 And we aid them with fruit and meat from what they lust for. 23 They will tug a cup [of wine] from one another; there will not be any vain talk nor cause to sin. 24 And young boys will go around them as if they were covered [2] pearls. 25 And some of them came to the others, asking each other. 26 They said, "Surely we were before anxious among our families, 27 so Allah has granted to us, and he has saved us from the torment of the simoom. [3] 28 Surely we were calling on him before. Surely he is the righteous, the merciful." 29 So remind, by the grace of your lord you are not a kāhin [4] nor demon-possessed. 30 Or do they say, "A poet, let us await for him the disaster." 31 Say, "Await, so surely I am with you among the waiters." 32 Or do their dreams command them of that, or are they a rebellious people? 33 Or do they say, "You say it"? [5] Yet, they do not believe. 34 So let them bring a saying like it, if they were truthful. 35 Or had they created anything without me, or are they creators? 36 Or did they create the heavens and earth? Yet, they are not certain. 37 Or do they have the treasuries of your lord, or are they the dominators? 38 Or do they have a ladder, they hear in it? So let their listeners bring a manifest authority. 39 Or does he [6] have the daughters, and you have the sons? 40 Or do you ask for a wage from them so that they are overburdened by debt? 41 Or do they have the unseen so they write? 42 Or do they desire schemes? So those who became infidels are the schemers. 43 Or do they have a god other than Allah? Praise be to Allah above what they partner. 44 And if they see a large piece of the heavens falling down, they would say, "A dense cloud." 45 So leave them until they meet their day in which they will be thunderstruck. 46 A day their schemes will not benefit them anything, and they will not be helped. 47 And surely to those unjust ones will be a torment without that, but most of them do not know. 48 And be patient of the judgment of your lord. So surely you are in our eyes [7] and praise with your lord’s praise when you stand, 49 and part of the night, so praise him, and the stars retreat.
