Make and Use a Massage Candle
How does it help?
Making a CBD massage candle is a mindful self-care activity that activates your senses in order to bring you fully into the present moment. The candle itself is enhanced with the pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory benefits of CBD, and the act of carefully following directions utilizes your ability to focus, which is also amplified by CBD.
You will need:
Candle wick, 4-ounce glass jar, grater, 3 tablespoons natural beeswax or soy wax, 3 tablespoons cocoa butter, 1.6 ounces shea butter, 3 tablespoons sweet almond oil, 1,000 milligrams CBD oil, ⅛ teaspoon (about 12 drops) lavender essential oil (or other scented oil of your choosing)
How to:
- Put the wick into the jar. Then grate the wax, cocoa butter, and shea butter into small flakes.
- Make a double boiler by filling a small pot ¼ full of water and bringing it to a boil. Reduce the heat to a simmer and place a heatproof bowl snugly into the pot without touching the water.
- Add the wax, cocoa butter, shea butter, and sweet almond oil to the bowl. Stir gently for 10 minutes until the mixture is melted, then remove from the heat and gently mix in CBD and lavender oil.
- Carefully, holding the wick if needed, pour the mixture into your jar and let harden at room temperature for 30 minutes. You can also use 2 chopsticks set across the top of the jar to hold the wick in place.
- Let the candle cool until it is no longer warm to the touch. Trim the wick as needed.
- To use, light the candle to set the mood. As it burns, the candle will melt into massage oil that burns at a lower temperature than standard candles. Gently drizzle some over your partner’s back or into your hands, and give a massage as you normally would.
