Excel integration

Microsoft Excel is still one of the most favorite applications for accountants, and there is a direct integration between Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations and Microsoft Excel. The end user can open journal entries in Excel, edit them, then publish the journal back to Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations.

Go to General ledger | Journal entries | General journal, then Lines, then add the required information date, main account, offset account, and amount. Then move to Excel integration and select General journal line entry, as shown in the following screenshot:

In the dialog shown in the following screenshot, select Download:

Microsoft Excel will open up, as illustrated in the following screenshot, and it will require you to Enable editing, and may request your credentials at first time login:

Microsoft Excel will take time retrieving metadata.

 Microsoft Excel retrieves the data from the journal line, and as shown in the following screenshot, the accountant can add more lines and publish the journal to the system:

From the right-hand corner, the user will find the Publish button, as shown in the following screenshot:

 

It will take a while till Excel publishes the data to Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations. This depends on the size of the entry.
