MEET THE CREEPER

During the time I have been in the world of Minecraft, I have made every effort to make sure I am well protected from any potential danger. I have designed a house that is safe, secure, and built into the side of a hill. On the upper level, I have a balcony that I can walk out on to see everything that is going on below me. On every exterior wall of the home, you would find a torch hanging that gave off plenty of light. My whole yard, including my garden is enclosed by a sturdy, wooden fence. For added safety, I made sure to have a torch on every fence post, as well as a jack-o-lantern on the exterior of all four sides of the fence. I also have plenty of tools and weapons at my disposal that I can easily get to in the event of an emergency.

While I have encountered several mobs in the past, I have always been successfully able to elude them and get back to my house before they could attack and injure me. I have ran straight into a skeleton, a pack of endermen, a zombie and even a huge spider, but I have always been able to fight them off, even if it has not been that easy. As a result, I usually feel quite secure in my home. One evening, as the sun was setting in the horizon, I walked out onto the balcony before heading to bed for the night. Out of the corner of my eye, I thought I saw something in the trees located right outside the fence. I looked harder, but I did not see anything. Chalking it up to an active imagination, I went back inside.

For some reason, I just could not go to sleep when I finally got in the bed. It was if something was telling me that there was something out there, so I went back out on the balcony to look around. Then I saw it, though I had no idea what it was. It did not resemble anything I had ever seen before. It was unusually tall with four legs and a blank look. What was it? After a few seconds, I realized that it must be one of those elusive creepers that I had heard of in the past, but I had never actually come in contact with.

However, I was not even the least bit scared or worried. You see I had a wolf that hung out in that area of the woods and I had no doubt that he would be able to get rid of the creeper before the creeper could do anything to me. It was at that moment that I saw the wolf to the left of the creeper, as well as another creeper alongside the first one. I was well out of their reach and I knew I could count on the wolf, so I made the decision to taunt them. I laughed and called them names, while they began to look more and more agitated. Why had the wolf not got over to them yet? When I looked toward the wolf, I realized that he was running as fast as he could in the opposite direction. He was scared of the creeper, leaving me alone to take care of them.

I was thinking to myself that, regardless of what I had heard about creepers in the past, they did not look all that dangerous. Sure, they were tall, but they had no weapons that I could see. For that matter, it did not even look as if it had arms. I continued to laugh loudly and I even began to point at them. After all, I did not see how there was any possible way they could get all the way up here on the balcony with me. I was certain that I was as safe as I could possibly be.

I saw a few more come up beside the others, but I still did not feel any fear or worry. After all, they could not teleport like an enderman and they had no arms they could use to climb with, so how could they possibly get up here with me? I decided I would just wait it out until they became frustrated and left or the sun started coming back up, whichever one came first.

You can’t even begin to understand how shocked I was when out of nowhere a creeper landed on the right side of the balcony. He had jumped down from a ledge directly up above me. As I looked directly at him, I simply froze. How did he manage to get up here and how in the world was I going to escape him? Suddenly the quiet night was alive with a strange hissing sound. At the same time, the creeper directly beside me began to swell and flash. My instincts finally kicked in and I dove to the left just as he exploded. While I survived the blast, the same could not be said for my balcony that I had worked so hard to build. it simply crumbled into a million little pieces. With a loud thump I landed below and just like that the creepers were all over me. I had been wrong; they were dangerous!
