After too many days of rain to count, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the sun was actually shining one morning. I was running low on meat, so I decided that, although it was pretty muddy, I had to get out there and start hunting. I was really in the mood for some tasty fish, so I headed out with my fishing rod and everything else I needed to catch a few fish. Of course, I brought my bow and arrow with me as well in case I ran into a cow along my way down to the lake and I never leave home without my torch.
I was absolutely shocked when all of the sudden a torrential downpour started without any warning whatsoever. I was getting completely soaking wet and I had to make the decision whether or not I should continue my trek down to the lake because you can catch a good many fish when the rain is coming down. Did I want to get even wetter and be almost certain to catch a whole mess of fish? Since, I was already wet, I decided just to continue on my walk down to the lake. I was trying desperately to stay under the dense tree limbs in the woods, when I was startled by a loud rumble of thunder immediately followed by a huge flash of lighting.
Now, I had to find shelter or risk some serious injuries. After walking for a few more minutes, while the rain continued to pour down from overhead and the thunder and lightning erupted all around me, I saw what looked to be an entrance to a small, hidden cave. I dashed over to it excitedly and quickly took cover inside its dark interior. After sitting down and collecting my thoughts for a few minutes, I realized that this was a cave I had never stumbled upon before during my many trips exploring the area in the past. As the rain, thunder, and lightning carried on wildly outside the cave, I decided that I would take this time as an opportunity to explore it further. After all, the rain did not appear to be letting up any time soon and i did not just want to sit here.
After lighting my torch, I turned and headed back into the cave. I soon discovered that the cave did not go very far back, but it did start going deep down into the ground. I did not think I had anything to lose, so I continued further into the deep, dark cave. In some places, the passageway was almost too small to go through, but I kept going. After walking for several minutes, I realized that I had not encountered anything the entire time I had been here. I stopped for a few minutes to consider my options. Should I keep going and see if maybe there was something worth discovering or should I just turn back and head toward the entrance? Decisions, decisions! What should I do?
As I was standing there, I became conscious of a strange noise coming from further down in the cave. It took me a minute to recognize the sound, but I finally realized it was a faint slapping noise. In the past, I had come across slime in one of the swamps that I discovered and this was a similar sound. Now, I am not that afraid of slime and to be honest, I could use some tiny slime to craft together some Sticky Pistons and make some Magna Cream, so I decided to wait and see what happened. To my delight, a couple of tiny sized pieces came toward me.
I snatched them up and then I heard that distinctive slapping sound again. Again, it was coming from deep within the cave, though it was a tad bit louder than it was before. I froze and lifted up my bow and arrow in anticipation of what might be about to come barreling out from around the corner. Within just a few seconds, a medium chunk of slime shot out from the corner. Without thinking about it, I immediately fired my bow and arrow and was pleased to see the slime split into two smaller pieces. They both instantly started toward me and I fumbled to load another arrow into place. As I hit one, the other reached me and began to bump up against me hard. The one I had hit split into tiny pieces that I knew did not present any danger to me, but that could not be said for the other piece.
Without any time to really think about what I should do, I quickly turned away in an effort to get away from the slime while trying to load one of the two arrows I had left into the bow. Bump! It slammed into me again as I attempted to get far enough way to get off a good shot that would bust the piece of slime into two. I ran back, holding on to my arrow tightly. I just needed to get a few feet away and I could certainly move faster than the slime.
Just a few seconds later, I turned and fired. Bam! I hit the piece of slime and it splintered apart into several tiny pieces. The entire ordeal had only lasted a matter of minutes, although it seemed like hours had gone by. I was just lucky that I had thought to take my bow and arrow along on fishing trip or I might not still be here. Now that it was all over, I opted to go back up to the cave’s opening and wait out the rest of the storm. After all, I fully intended to catch some fish, no matter how long it might take to do so.
