Acknowledgments

I want to thank the authors who graciously gave of their time and scholarship to make this anthology happen. Many of the scholars didn’t know me before I contacted them, but they quickly conveyed a willingness to participate in this project. Their abundant graciousness, humility, and patience with a relative novice was more than I could have expected. The families who supported the authors and allowed them to work long hours to meet publishing deadlines are also worthy of mention. Your sacrifice did not go unnoticed. Helpful comments from Jed L. Woodworth, Matthew J. Grow, Reid L. Neilson, and Richard E. Turley Jr. as well as BYU Religious Studies Center readers and editors on early drafts were invaluable. Thomas Wayment, my editor, was always available to answer my questions and offer advice. Sincere thanks to the Religious Studies Center staff for their help, including Devan Jensen, Brent Nordgren, Joany Pinegar, Madison Swapp, Alison Brimley, Shanna D’Avila, Hadley Griggs, Allyson Jones, Alex Masterson, Leah Welker, and Lauren Whitby. My husband, who saw this project as more than I ever envisioned, gave me the bravery to embark on such an ambitious endeavor. He is my greatest source of encouragement and support. But most of all, I am grateful for this gospel and the love of a Savior who mends broken things and opens doors once closed.
