1. to weed out, root up

yavn von velrayd sticks to the shade of a stone wall, edging around the garden with practiced alacrity and a frenzied mind that hasn’t stopped screeching since the Endurance incident: they know. Everyone at the party knew he had been a part of it—he was convinced of it.

The man had promised, but not like this—like death and destruction. It had always been parties and talking and theories of how to change things and through what means—policies, lobbying, strikes. Yavn was the weaver, not the thread—he never wanted to see blood, let alone be the reason for it. He has to lay low. He has to tell Rax, get him in on it officially—Duke Velrayd will forgive him if Rax asks; he’ll listen to the greatest rider the House has ever seen.

Yavn von Velrayd is convinced he slips off the grounds unnoticed.

And yet a guard in white and gold follows in his shadow, their eyes a piercing ice blue.
