ROGUES GALLERY AND IDENTIFICATION GUIDE

Although I hope this identification guide will help, it is not fully encyclopaedic. According to several in-depth monographs, 1,500–3,000 animals (mostly insects) are regularly found in human homes, offices, shops, warehouses, cafes and restaurants around the world – and there are plenty more casual visitors. Many of these require specialist knowledge and a good microscope to tell them apart, and any exhaustive list is well outside the scope of this book. Nevertheless, I hope this guide will serve to give a bit more information on the selected species.
