Chapter 29
Costa Del Sol.
Danny lay back on the balcony soaking up the Spanish sun on this the last day of his visit. Tom had gone to see one of his kids about their business, so he was enjoying just sitting alone thinking what the weather back home would be like when his phone rang.
He picked this up then glancing at the number he frowned as he did not recognize it, but then decided to answer it anyway. “Hello, who is this?”
For a moment no one answered then suddenly a voice that he did not immediately recognize spoke, “It’s Sid here, so please do not hang up, Danny.”
Danny now sat bolt upright wondering what the hell was going on. “Look Sid, what the fuck do you want?”
A pleading voice now said, “I want to say sorry, that’s what I want. Please can we just forget about the past and all that went on? Because I do not want that son of yours coming around to see me again. Please just tell him that I am, truly sorry will you promise to do that Danny?”
By this time Danny had put down his drink and was taking in all that Sid said, so told him,
“Calm down Sid. What son are you talking about, I have after all four of them?”
Sid called out in frustration, “The Army one, the one who thinks he is fucking Rambo, that is who.”
A smile of relief was now on Danny’s face as he asked, “So let me get this right, are you saying that there will be no more threats about you know what, is that right?”
Sid shouted out, “Absolutely! That is exactly what I mean Danny.”
Danny relaxed as he now knew this problem had now been solved. “Okay, then we have a deal. You are a fool Sid, there was no need for any of this you know.”
Sid now sounded calmer as he answered. “Thank you, I know this and once again I am sorry Danny and tell Tom, will you?”
Danny not knowing what if anything more to say just answered, “I will, by the way how did you get my number, Sid?”
“Your friend, Jammy, he gave it me, he did not want to, but I begged him. So long Danny.”
Danny smiled as he placed the phone back on the table. He now felt as if a great weight had suddenly been lifted from him. But he could not help but wonder just what Lee had said or done to bring this about, but he certainly was grateful.
