“DID YOU BRING ENOUGH FOR EVERYBODY?” “WHY, YES, I DID!”
STUFF YOU MAY NOT HAVE LEARNED IN MIDDLE SCHOOL: WHOOPI GOLDBERG WAS A MORTUARY COSMETOLOGIST AND A BRICKLAYER BEFORE SHE BECAME AN ACTRESS.
Have you ever had someone give you something cool, like a gift card, and it wasn’t even your birthday or a special occasion? How did it make you feel? Surprised? Confused? You may have thought, Oh no, she wants something from me...or she must have done something wrong and is trying to pay me back. But to your surprise, you realized she gave it to you just because. How sweet is that?
How much fun would it be if you brought something to school and gave it to someone just because? Or gave it to everyone just because? Now, we’re not saying everybody in your entire school, but maybe an entire class or your group of friends or everybody on the bus ride home.
One of the best ways to show kindness is by sharing. Here are a few ideas of things you can bring to school and share with everybody:
Bring something for everyone in your lunch crowd. When you sit down for lunch, bust out a bag of candy bars for all your lunch friends. Or bring a huge bag of chips and share with everyone. Or bring an entire case of Capri Sun and give one to everybody.
Bring something for everyone in your class. Bring a couple dozen assorted doughnuts for everybody in your homeroom. Make sure you get permission from your teacher first. Also make sure to get your teacher her favorite doughnut. Or for a class that meets after lunch, bring a tray of brownies for everybody. Make sure you sprinkle some powdered sugar on top of the brownies before you serve them, because that’s delicious! Or bring a bag of cookies. Everyone likes a good cookie after lunch.
Bring something healthy for everyone in your P.E.class. Slice up a bunch of juicy oranges, bag them up, and bring them for the class. Or bring a small cooler of ice-cold Gatorade. There’s nothing like a cup of Gatorade to rehydrate you after running the mile (the dreaded mile). Don’t forget the cups.
Kindness can be shown in a bunch of ways at your school. A fun, surprising way to share kindness is by sharing yummy stuff with everyone, just because.
