Tender, juicy, flavorful slow-cooker beef brisket smothered in a homemade barbecue sauce . . . this is what dreams are made of! What’s especially dreamy is how quick and easy this recipe is to prepare when you let your slow cooker work its magic. This brisket is great served alone with the coleslaw, or if you’re feeling like treating yourself, serve it up in some buns!
make the sauce In a bowl, combine all the BBQ sauce ingredients and mix until well combined.
make the brisket Generously season the brisket all over with the salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, and cumin. Rub it into the meat with your hands.
In a large skillet, heat the oil over high heat and, when shimmering, sear brisket on all sides until a deep brown crust has formed, about 4 minutes per side.
Transfer the browned brisket into a slow cooker. Pour ½ of the BBQ sauce mixture on top. Reserve the remaining BBQ sauce in the fridge for later use. Cover and cook the brisket on low for 8 hours.
When cook time is complete, transfer the brisket onto a cutting board (reserving the juices in the slow cooker) and let rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
Meanwhile, transfer 2 cups of the reserved cooking liquid from the slow cooker to a small saucepan and bring to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to a rapid simmer and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the liquid has reduced by half, 12 to 15 minutes.
Slice the brisket and spread across a serving platter. Pour the reduced cooking liquid over the cooked, sliced brisket.
Serve with Quick-and-Easy Coleslaw and top with extra BBQ sauce, if desired.
