Sleeping seed

And so, I hang down, clinging fast

to my position here, at this edge.

Hereafter

let me never stop searching for you…

like a bird seeking after a stretch of water.

a midnight dream ripples out

– a stone thrown in water –

into ever widening circles.

In its transmission, I see your smile

consoling me, consoling me.

I came to recognize you

as children recognize their own body parts.

My body, lacking anyone to seed and nourish it

dries out, cracks open into fissures.

Birds, as they fly past, let fall seeds

deep buried in their droppings.

A single seed fallen into a crevice

waits, fast asleep,

for the rain’s cool touch.

Hereafter, I shall never stop searching for you.
