You will never have to solo hike in Western North Carolina. This region is home to several very active outdoors groups.

The CMC is one of the country’s premier hiking clubs. At the time of this guidebook’s printing, a yearly membership is only $20 for individuals and $30 for families. Members are invited to attend more than 150 events each year. Activities range from group hikes to trail-maintenance outings to club socials.
