1 Apply a white basecoat to the muzzle and eye spots, shaping the areas with the edge and corner of the sponge.

2 Apply tan on the entire face around the white areas using a sponge. Stipple over the forehead spots to blend.

3 With a sponge and dark brown, shade around the white shapes and add a widow’s peak. Following the contours of the face, use the sponge to suggest fur texture as you shade beneath the eyes and on the cheeks and chin.

4 Use a no. 3 round and black to outline beneath the eyes, paint the eyelids, add the dark spot to the bridge of the nose, divide the muzzle and outline and shape the muzzle. Paint the lion’s nose under the model’s actual nose using the same brush and color.

5 Fill in the nose and add fur texture to the top of the chin beneath the lip using a no. 3 round and dark brown. With the same brush and color, dot in whisker spots and add more fur texture around the bottom of the chin and jawline. Finally, add white whiskers along the brow and muzzle with a no. 3 round.
