FINAL THOUGHTS
FROM POOKY
Thank you for taking the time to read this book. Whilst self-harm is on the increase amongst people of all ages, it’s still a topic that many people feel deeply uncomfortable talking about or seeking help with. By reading this book and trying to understand a little better how you can help yourself or someone you care about, you are helping to break down the stigma and taboo that have historically surrounded self-harm.
If you, or someone you care about, are trying to overcome self-harming behaviors, please be forgiving. There will be good days and bad days and a slip or blip does not mean you’re back at square one, no matter how it might feel. Progress is rarely linear.
If you still have questions about self-harm after reading this book then why not drop me a line? The very best way to reach me is via Twitter – @PookyH. I’ll always do my best to answer your questions, both as someone who carries many scars and fights the urge to self-harm every day and as someone who has spent a long time researching and teaching and learning about the topic.
Every day is a new beginning. Take a deep breath and start again.
Good luck!
