This versatile stuffed sandwich can be served for brunch or dinner, or as an appetizer. Or wrap the sandwich in foil, tuck it an insulated carrier, and take it to your next tailgate.
- 1 tsp. olive oil
- 1 Tbsp. cornmeal
- 1 13.8-oz. pkg. refrigerated pizza dough
- 4 oz. thinly sliced cooked ham
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (4 oz.)
- 1 cup fresh baby spinach or torn spinach leaves
- 4 oz. thinly sliced cooked turkey
- ⅓ cup chopped red, green, or yellow sweet pepper
- ¼ cup Kalamata olives, pitted and chopped
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- Marinara sauce or pizza sauce (optional)
1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Lightly brush a 13×9-inch baking pan with oil; sprinkle with cornmeal.
2. On a lightly floured surface, carefully stretch or roll pizza dough into a 13×10-inch rectangle. Arrange ham slices on dough to within ½ inch of the edges. Sprinkle with ½ cup of the cheese. Layer spinach and turkey on cheese. Top with the remaining ½ cup cheese, the sweet pepper, and olives. Starting from a long side, roll up dough; pinch to seal seams.
3. Place loaf, seam side down, in the prepared baking pan. Brush with egg; cut a few slits in top for steam to escape. Bake 30 minutes or until golden brown. Cool slightly.
4. Cut into eight slices. If desired, serve with marinara sauce.
