- 10 medium baking apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1 large lemon, juiced and pulp reserved
- ½ cup sugar
- ⅓ cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 12 cinnamon-sugar-coated cake doughnuts
- 5 Tbsp. butter, melted
- Vanilla ice cream (optional)
1. Preheat oven to 375°F. In a large bowl combine apple slices, lemon juice, and any lemon pulp. Sprinkle with sugar, flour, and cinnamon; toss until apples are coated. Arrange apples in a 3-qt. rectangular baking dish.
2. Bake, covered, 40 minutes or until apples are tender. Uncover; top apples with doughnuts, squeezing to fit if necessary, and drizzle with melted butter. Bake, uncovered, 15 minutes or until hot and bubbly. If desired, serve warm with ice cream.
