GREEN APPLE-CHARDONNAY GRANITA
prep 20 minutes freeze 3 hours
This granita makes a refreshing adult dessert. Spoon into wine glasses and garnish with thinly sliced apple or halved fresh strawberries.
1. In a bowl stir together wine and sugar until sugar is completely dissolved.
2. In a food processor or blender combine apples, ½ cup of the apple juice, and the lemon juice. Cover and process until smooth. Press mixture through a fine-mesh sieve, reserving apple liquid. Discard pulp. Add enough remaining apple juice to strained apple liquid to equal 2½ cups. Stir in wine mixture.
3. Transfer granita mixture to a 3-qt. rectangular baking dish. Freeze 1½ hours or until slushy. Stir with a fork; freeze 1½ to 2 hours more or until set. Using a fork, scrape granita into flakes.
