About the Author

Shelly Morton writes from her home in Texas. As a child, her parents moved a lot. She has lived in Kansas, Illinois, California, and Tennessee. Her family moved to Texas when she was fifteen.

She jokingly tells people that she came to Texas in a covered wagon. When her family moved from Tennessee to Texas, there was no room for her in the cab of the U-Haul. She had to ride in the cab of the Volkswagen bus that was towed behind the U-Haul from Tennessee to Texas, and since it was illegal to have someone in a towed vehicle, the windows were “covered” with newspaper. Hence the “covered wagon”!

Both of her parents taught her to love reading at an early age. Her mother was an avid reader and a great influence on her life. She passed away in 2018. Her father was an avid reader also and, at ninety, is working on several novels. He is also a published author of several guitar instruction books.

She has two younger brothers and a younger sister. Her youngest brother passed away several years ago at the age of seventeen.

The authors that have most influenced her writing are, in no particular order, C. S Lewis, Frank Perretti, and C. S. Forrester. She loves to read her Bible and spiritual, historical, and educational books, as well as fictional adventure and Christian fantasy.

She is married and has one daughter, a son-in-law, a granddaughter, a bonus daughter, a bonus granddaughter, a bonus grandson, and two bonus great-grandchildren.

She and her husband, Larry, live on their urban homestead and have two dogs, Buddy and Bear. In addition to writing, she also enjoys drawing, painting, handcrafts, hand-lettering, artwork, and tending to their vegetable garden and fruit trees. She also writes for her home organizing website www.straighten-up-now.com.

Shelly’s husband, Larry, writes for his website www.4-the-love-of-jeeps.com.
