This tropical cooler is from Fred Thompson’s book Lemonade: 50 Cool Recipes for Classic, Flavored, and Hard Lemonades and Sparklers (The Harvard Common Press, 2002). I might call it a Carolina Blue Lagoon, if serving it during a Tar Heels game. For variety, Fred suggests substituting lemon-flavored vodka or rum for the plain vodka. Use from-scratch or from-concentrate lemonade, not a mix, for this beverage.
SERVES 2
Ice cubes | |
3 | ounces vodka |
2 | ounces blue curaçao |
⅔ | cup lemonade |
Add several ice cubes to a cocktail shaker or any jar with a lid (a Mason jar works great). Add the vodka, blue curaçao, and lemonade, and shake until cold. Strain into 2 oversize martini glasses or serve on the rocks in highball glasses.
EXTRA POINTS You can make the lemonade 1 day before the tailgate and mix the drink up just before serving.
