11. Unwind with Tea and Tub Time
Affirmation: “I relax into bliss. I am content and full of joy.”
After the hustle and bustle of your day, carve out some time for just yourself. You are important and worthy of love, caring, and time to unwind. Give yourself these gifts of self-love, and make it a way of life to maintain balance and eliminate burnout.
In this activity the healing properties of water combine with the invigorating essence of lemon, the relaxing and purifying energy of lavender, the joyful vibe of mint, and the sweetness of honey or stevia, symbolizing the sweet nectar of life.
Exercise: Unwinding Tension Bath
Take some time just for you. Give yourself the opportunity to relax and unravel any built-up tension. Then you will have more mental and emotional space to soak in bliss.
You will need some dried or fresh herbs or essential oils, and it is best to use organic ingredients. Use your hands or scissors to break up the herbs into rough pieces. This should be a quick and easy process. Gather the following:
½ cup fresh or dried lavender or 4–8 drops of therapeutic-grade lavender essential oil
1 cup fresh or dried mint
1 fresh lemon
Honey or stevia extract powder to taste
Spring water
Start by placing your lavender and mint in separate small bowls. Boil hot water in a teakettle. Next, scrape ¼ of the zest from your lemon into a big mug and then another ¼ into the bowl of lavender. Then, slice your lemon into wedges.
When your hot water is ready in the kettle, pour it into the mug to almost fill it. Next, squeeze a couple of your lemon wedges into the mug and add honey or stevia powder to taste. Add about ¼ of your mint to your mug. Place the rest in your bowl of lavender and lemon zest.
Take your lemon mint tea and your bowl of dry ingredients into the bathroom and draw a warm bath. Light some candles if you’d like. When the tub is full, pour your dry ingredients into the tub and add lavender or any other any essential oils you’d like. Hop in and bring your tea to sip. Inhale the aromas. Close your eyes, relax, and receive the blissful contentment of the lemon, mint, and lavender. As you sip your special brew, absorb the sweet ambrosial essence of caring for yourself. Bathing is a healing ritual. Soaking is an enlivening treat, just for you. Enjoy your tub teatime and say this affirmation aloud while you soak: “I allow myself to gently release all tension and to soak in pure bliss.”
A warm soak can wash away life’s worries
and soothe an active mind. Choose self-care.
