SID BARON was born in the Netherlands and immigrated with his family to the United States after the Second World War. He has enjoyed a successful career in starting a variety of businesses including a commercial FM broadcast station, electronic and telecommunication companies, a construction and development company and several others. Sid is still involved in many of the businesses he founded. In addition he has held leadership positions in various civic, church and charitable organizations. Currently he enjoys spending time with Margaret, his wife of sixty-two years, along with the families of their six children.

In 1970 Sid was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Through God’s grace and his own proactive approach to managing the disease, he has been able to maintain an active lifestyle, which is something for which he is profoundly thankful.

From Humble Beginnings

Sid grew up on a small farm in the northern province of Holland. As a boy he experienced, first hand, what it was like living in Nazi occupied territory during World War ll.

After immigrating to the United States, and with very limited assets other than his own ingenuity, he started a number of businesses in various fields. Some of them expanded beyond his hometown of Bellingham, Washington to other states across the country.

The importance of all that success pales in comparison to the importance of family. Margaret and Sid have been blessed with six children, fourteen grandchildren and twenty-six great grandchildren. He has been blessed more richly then he would have dared to hope or pray for.

Faith, family and relationships are the values that count in life—far more than the accumulation of material possessions. He regards what he has achieved for himself as far less important than the opportunities he had helping others.

Anyone reading any of Sid’s six other books will notice many continuing themes: Growing up in Nazi-occupied Holland during World War II, a depth of humor that keeps him from taking life too seriously, an abundant faith, dedication to family and friends, and living and thriving in life and business in spite of his over forty years living with multiple sclerosis.
