CHAPTER EIGHT

ELLIE

Ellie sat in a corner of the living room in a charming inn in the castle town of Crupet, Belgium, focusing on the latest email from Liz. As much as she and John were enjoying their trip, Ellie waited eagerly for these emails telling her about the latest happenings at Sanderling Cove. The thought of Charlotte and Shane being engaged brought a rush of pleasure to her. She wished Livy and Brooke would find equally good men to settle down with. One reason she and John would remain on their European trip for the entire summer was to give all the cove grandchildren time to really get to know one another, and hopefully, fall in love.

She focused on the screen and read:

“Karen has encouraged Adam to return to the cove sooner rather than later. While Skye is happy with her Mimi, she misses her daddy. More importantly, Karen is hoping that Adam will finally see Brooke as the perfect woman to become his wife and Skye’s mother. She’s going to do everything she can to make it happen.

“Brooke recently put purple in her hair, a pure act of rebellion in my mind. We all say bravo to that.

“Livy is still having fun, going out, enjoying herself after working at the Inn. All three of your granddaughters are working hard there. Though I’ll give nothing away, I think you’ll be pleased.

“Now that Shane is settled, I’m trying to keep an eye on Austin. Surely, one of the young ladies at the cove is suitable for him.

“Enough matchmaking. We all miss you and John.

“Happy Travels. Liz”

Ellie closed the lid to her computer and stood up. She missed Sanderling Cove but was delighted by all she and John had seen and done on their trip enjoying tasty food, excellent wine, and new vistas. Each day she asked herself if she wanted to sell the Sanderling Cove Inn, but she simply couldn’t decide. The end of summer and their return to the cove, discovering what her granddaughters had done in her absence, would provide her with an answer.
