Treadmill

He gets on the treadmill

Going uphill

With determination grim

Picturing himself thin

He will sacrifice toast

Become anorexic almost

People will beg him to eat

His refusal he will disdainfully repeat

It will mean getting a new wardrobe

New trousers, new shirts, new coats

Quite a few holes in his belt

For all his excess weight will melt

He will follow all the weight loss books

People will comment on his new look

And ask what had changed him

He would say his determination grim

Women he had hitherto considered out of his league

He will fascinate with his masculine physique

He wipes the sweat on his brow

And concentrates on here and now

One day he will surely get there

Only those win who dare
